Mei Ah becomes China Star distrib

World Brief

Mei Ah Entertainment Group is the new exclusive distributor for production powerhouse China Star Entertainment in Hong Kong and Macau.

Deal gives Mei Ah, which also produces films, the right to distribute the libraries and future releases of Hong Kong-based China Star and its subsidiary Ocean Shores over the next three years. In return, Mei Ah may release its films through China Star's digital projection television theater chain in China's major cities.

"This cooperation will not only increase our market share in Hong Kong but will also open up a new distribution channel in (the People's Republic of) China for the release of our forthcoming titles," said Li Kuo Hsing, chairman of Mei Ah Group. "This will expand our revenue sources, promote our brand name and accelerate our business development in the PRC."

Distribution of audiovisual products in Hong Kong and Macau account for 80 % of Mei Ah's revenue.
