David Chappe

Screenwriter

Screenwriter David Chappe died Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after a four-year battle with angiosarcoma. He was 54.

His spec for "Gale Force" unleashed a gale force on the spec market. His producer credits include "Beowulf." His latest work, "Patagonia," was just completed. His new novel, "The Stone Bird," is making the rounds.

A member of the WGA, his unproduced credits include Treasure of Gunsight Butte, Prince of the Code and Let's Eat, among others. Chappe was an accomplished artist and graduate of Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, NY.

He is survived by wife June Stoddard, twin daughters, his mother and a brother.

Services will be held at 4:30 p.m. today at Temple Akiba, 5249 Sepulveda Blvd. in Culver City.
