Fest to honor Wong, Patino

MADRID -- The UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television will receive a special tribute at the 47th Valladolid Intl. Film Festival (Oct. 25-Nov. 2) with a retrospective screening student works.

Fest is the most important art pic distribution springboard in Spain.

Fest also will honor helmers Wong Kar-wai ("In the Mood for Love") and Spanish maverick Basilio Martin Patino ("Songs for After a War"). A panorama of standout Polish pics from 1990-2000 also will be featured.

Event will maintain its traditional sections: a competition, often featuring recent major-fest standouts; docu overview Tiempo de Historia; a ragbag of edgier gems, Punto de Encuentro; and a sidebar of subtitled recent Spanish pics.
