Labor rejects SAG appeal

Dept. allows time limit to pass on rerun election issue

The Dept. of Labor has turned down an appeal of January's decision by SAG's elections committee to rerun last fall's election. The department made no formal announcement about its rejection of the appeal but allowed last week's deadline for intervening to pass.

Five SAG members, including 1st VP Mike Farrell, had appealed to Labor based on allegations that the elections committee was improperly constituted. The committee based its decision to order an unprecedented rerun on violations of rules by SAG staff and Sequoia Voting Systems regarding the ballot signature line and deadlines for turning in ballots.
