THQ had created successful Game Boy titles for each of the previous blockbuster Disney/Pixar animated hits, but now will extend the license to cover all Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony game systems, along with Windows- and Mac-based PCs.
The first of the films, "Nemo," debuts next summer, followed by "The Incredibles" during the holidays of 2004 and "Cars" a year after that.
"This agreement will allow THQ's film-inspired games to benefit from longer development lead times and a growing creative dialogue with Pixar on each film release," said Pixar chairman and CEO Steve Jobs. "Pixar is committed to creating the highest- quality animated films for the enjoyment of families around the world. Additionally, we want the entertainment products inspired by our films to appropriately capture their magic, which our new agreement with THQ moves us all closer to achieving."
THQ also creates licensed games based on many of Nickelodeon's animated TV shows, what is now called World Wrestling Entertainment, the next "Star Wars" movie, the "Scooby-Doo" TV show and Britney Spears.
