C7 had feevee rights to the Olympics; some swimming, cricket, rugby and athletics competitions; and, until end 2001, the popular Australian Rules Football. It was previously available via the Optus feevee system, but that deal expired March 28, ahead of the planned merger of Optus and Foxtel services.
Seven issued a release which read: "there is no sustainable business model available to allow C7 to compete effectively in the pay television sports market."
