Buckland in for Edgar atop ACTF

Foundation vet to take post July 1

This article was corrected on May 7, 2002.

SYDNEY -- The board of the Australian Children's Television Foundation appointed Jenny Buckland as its new director, replacing the retiring Patricia Edgar. She will take up the post July 1 when Edgar retires.

Buckland, 37, joined the Foundation in 1989 as inhouse lawyer and established its international sales division in 1992.

Funded by the Australian government and pubcaster ABC, ACTF has spent $100 million ($52 million) in production since Edgar founded it 20 years ago.

"I want to boost international sales," Buckland said, "and form new relationships with like-minded partners, investing in one independent project each year for distribution alongside the foundation's own programs."
