2 firms value 'Family' pieces

Retro toon skein created, penned by Brady, Ferrone

TORONTO -- Vancouver-based CGI animation house Mainframe Entertainment has inked with Honest Entertainment to produce half-hour series "Family Values."

Created and written by Tom Brady ("The Simpsons," "The Critic") and Joanna Ferrone, it uses collage illustration, a technique in which characters are made from cut paper and photographs, with photographs portraying the face.

"Joanna and Tom have created a hilarious series with a contemporary-retro look and cutting-edge themes," said Mark Fleischer, president of Mainframe USA. "This not only adds a new dimension to the process, but it also brings the characters to life in a startling and funny way."

Executive producer is Jeff Goldstein ("Dilbert," "NewsRadio," "The Simpsons"). Group launched into international distribution at Mip TV mart.
