Who will fill Frank Sinatra's shoes?

GOOD MORNING: But who will play Frank Sinatra? That's the first question to be answered as Tina Sinatra says, "We have finally found the right partner to entrust and work with to present a unique tribute to the memories that Frank Sinatra left for the world." The "right partner" is Radio City Entertainment which has teamed with Frank Sinatra Enterprises to produce the first officially licensed and sanctioned live theatrical multimedia stage production celebrating Sinatra. There have been several Sinatra imitators, but James Sanna, senior vice president of marketing and business development for Radio City Entertainment, says their Sinatra production will "celebrate the life of a musical legend and revisit history in a creative and original way, creating a new theatrical medium and bring it to American audiences." Tina Sinatra is executive producer. The first production is slated to preem at Radio City Music Hall next year. Sinatra's debut at RCMH was in 1978 (of course, he first made headlines with lines of Bobby Soxers at the Paramount in December 1942) … This multimedia production of Frank Sinatra's legacy is one of the first initiatives that Radio City Entertainment's relaunched Entertainment Properties division says it will announce over the next year. Tina's at Yankee Stadium today for Frank Sinatra's New York Memories to toss out the first ball before the game between the Yanks and Oakland A's. And Nancy Sinatra Jr.'s daughter A.J. (Lambert) sings the national anthem. Fans receive a commemorative CD to match Frank Sinatra's N.Y. memories.

WE WERE THRILLED when Julie Andrews sang -- "I've grown accustomed to his space" -- at the dinner in our honor Friday, accompanied by her longtime conductor-pianist Ian Fraser. Now Julie and Ian reteam for one of the Julie Andrews Collection for Harper-Collins. The book "Simeon's Gift" will contain a CD with Andrews reading the story and backed by music of Fraser. It's one of eight books this year, teamed with daughter Emma Walton Hamilton and with sketches by Tony Walton. Another book in the works is "Grateful" which also will contain a CD by a major recording artist. It's based on a song by John Bocchino. Author Andrews appeared over the weekend at the L.A. Times' Book Fair at UCLA, where she signed 1,600(!) copies of her (solo-written) book "Little Bo in France" … Jerry Seinfeld's children's book "Jerry's Halloween" (Little, Brown) hits the stalls in September. And talking children -- his appearance at the Beacon Theater Monday benefits wife Jessica's charity, Baby Buggy (for those who can't afford 'em). He'll be seen live the night before on NBC's 75th-anni special, then continues his national tour. And yes, he's also started to write his next set of commercials for American Express. Other than that, he's taking it easy … The finale of "Ally McBeal" will feature a guestint by Carl Reiner in a very different role. David Kelley called Carl for the closer. Reiner also is paged to return next season to "Crossing Jordan" as Miguel Ferrer's father. In real life, Carl was a pal of Miguel's dad, Jose, who appeared in Reiner's "Enter Laughing." And also talking books, Reiner accepted a deal from St. Martin Press for "My Anecdotal Life," which follows his Little, Brown children's book, "A Scary Story -- But Not Too Scary."

In "Excelsior! The Amazing Life of Stan Lee," by Lee and George Mair for Simon & Schuster's Fireside trade paperback, Lee says, "I can just picture throngs of people flocking to theaters everywhere as they incredulously ask each other, 'You mean the guy is still around? I've gotta see that for myself.' " In the book, he also tells of his many plans for the future -- like the deal with MGM -- now added with Bruce Willis banner as per Daily Variety Monday. He also tells about his past misadventures with Peter Paul -- some of which include free-spending we quizzically witnessed in amazement -- like dinners for/with Bill Clinton and Al Gore! ... Add book news: Marlo Thomas is in L.A. to be partied today by Barry Diller and Jennifer Aniston at Diller's home on publication of Marlo's book "The Right Words at the Right Time" (Atria). More than 100 of Marlo's friends contributed stories on how the right words at the right time changed their lives. All of their royalties go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, founded by Danny Thomas in 1962. Among those who contributed their stories and who will attend are Sean Penn, Whoopi Goldberg, Quincy Jones, Diller, Aniston and Marlo's husband, Phil Donahue, who starts his MSNBC job in June.
