'Bombshell' woos Evans

Wentworth to pen adaptation of how-to novel

Paramount-based Robert Evans Company has paid low six figures to option the feature film rights to the novel "The Bombshell Manual of Style," which Evans and partner Christine Peters will produce.

Alexandra Wentworth has been hired to pen the adaptation of the book, a lighthearted guide to becoming a bombshell -- replete with guidance on what shoes, scents, clothes and attitudes to acquire and affect.

"Bombshell" is a romantic comedy in a similar vein to "Working Girl" and "Legally Blonde" about a working woman who believes she's too smart to be beautiful. After she's taken under a bombshell's wing, she learns that the perfect lipstick color could be as important as her Harvard sheepskin.

The Robert Evans Co.'s exec VP of production Robin Guthrie brought project into the company, which purchased it out of its own discretionary fund and will oversee its development. Project will be overseen at Paramount by senior VP Dede Gardner.

Both Stover and Wentworth are repped by the Broder, Kurland, Webb, Uffner percentery. Wentworth, who is married to Democratic pol-turned-journo George Stephanopoulos, has also penned "See Jane Run," which is set up at Gaylord Films, and "Bunny" set up at MGM with Sid Ganis attached to produce.
