Albert, hurt in crash, to skip NBC hoops

Announcer's appearance for playoff games uncertain

Marv Albert, injured in an auto accident early Thursday morning, will not take his scheduled turn as announcer of two National Basketball Assn. playoff games on NBC this weekend.

Albert suffered a concussion and facial cuts, but is in good condition in a hospital in Trenton, N.J. Turner Sports said it's still up in the air whether Albert will be able to announce playoff games on TBS and TNT next week.

Mike Fratello, also an NBA commentator, was riding in the same limo with Albert and suffered cuts to the face. He will not appear on NBC's basketball studio shows this weekend.

Bob Costas and Tom Hammond will substitute for Albert this weekend.
