Col Pix ups O'Connor to prod'n veep

'Roc' most recently o'saw 'Enough,' 'I Spy'

Rachel O'Connor has been upped to VP of production for Sony's Columbia Pictures.

"Rachel, or 'The Roc' as I like to call her, is a valued contributor and colleague to the entire creative group," said Col's production prexy Peter Schlessel. "She has established excellent relationships with talent and filmmakers and she has a great sense for material. It gives (Col chairman) Amy Pascal and I great pleasure to acknowledge her contributions with this well-deserved promotion."

O'Connor, who most recently served as director of production, has worked on the development team overseeing "Charlie's Angels," "Hollow Man" and "Vertical Limit."

More recently, she help shepherd production on Michael Apted's "Enough," starring Jennifer Lopez, as well as "I Spy," starring Eddie Murphy and Owen Wilson.

O'Connor is also developing such projects as Japanimation cross-over "Astro Boy," as well as action-thrillers like "Static" and "Rapid."

She reports to executive VP of Production Matt Tolmach on all projects.

O'Connor began her career in the entertainment industry working as a script reader for Turner Pictures, where Pascal was topper. She joined Pascal at Columbia as a creative executive in 1997 and was promoted to director of creative affairs in 1999.
