MAA TV launches

Indian digital satellite channel MAA TV was launched Saturday. The Telugu-language channel will compete with five others that run Telugu fare: Gemini TV, Eenadu TV, Sun Network's Teja, state government-owned Mana TV and Zee's Bharati. MAA is positioning itself as a youth entertainment channel, airing programs ranging from gameshows to serials to current affairs. The initial investment is about $5.2 million.
