Das Werk slips into red for 2001

Profits fall from $6 mil to a loss of $24 mil

COLOGNE -- Germany's Das Werk, which owns Wim Wenders' Road Movies, has slipped into the red. While revenues rose in 2001 to $107 million from $78 million, profits fell from $6 million to a loss of $24 million.

Company was hurt not only by tumbling commercial production, but also by several one-time writeoffs on its film library and its Spanish post-production subsidiary En Efecto.
