'Wars' closes Method Fest

WWII pic to screen in Pasadena

David Cunningham's "To End All Wars," starring Kiefer Sutherland, Ciaran McMenamim and Robert Carlyle, has been selected as closing-night film of the fourth annual Method Fest Independent Film Festival.

Pic will screen April 18 at Laemmle Playhouse 7 in Pasadena, followed by a party at Sorriso restaurant in Pasadena with the film's director and cast in attendance.

"To End All Wars" tells the true story of Ernest Gordon (McMenamim), a young Scottish student teacher who signs up with the Argyll & Sutherland Highland regiment at the outbreak of World War II. In 1942, during the fall of Singapore, the regiment is captured by the Japanese and taken to a prisoner-of-war camp in Thailand. The prisoners learn that they have 18 months to build 420 kilometers of railroad into the jungle.

The Method Fest celebrates breakout acting performances in independent film. Fest draws its name from "the Method" school of acting.
