MONTREAL -- Newsroom staffers at Radio-Canada, the French CBC Television and Radio networks, may be on the picket line by Thursday.
More than 68% of members of the Syndicat des Communications de Radio-Canada voted Saturday to reject the latest offer from management, which has now threatened to lock them out. The union had voted in favor of a 24-hour work stoppage.
Both sides met a negotiator Tuesday to thrash out a deal over salary and job security. The union alleges there is financial discrimination against women and Francophones at CBC.
The work stoppage would hit news shows produced in Quebec and Moncton, New Brunswick.
