More than 206 films from 33 countries are participating at the Cairo Opera House with last year's fest winner, Iran, spooling a whopping 34 films in eight days.
All eight U.S. films come from Disney, with a special tribute to Andrew Aherne, VP of Disney Intl. Character Voices.
Spanish producer/director Rodolfo Sigfredo is jury president and British animator Hillary Audus ("Christmas Carol") heads the TV and animation jury.
Cash prizes of LE 50, 000 ($11,000) are being awarded to best Arabic feature, TV and animation films to encourage regional production.
