'Lion' sets L.A. close

Show to travel to Chicago

"The Lion King" will conclude its long run in Los Angeles at the end of this year. The musical opened at the Pantages Theater in October 2000.

"We've stayed three times longer than originally planned," said Thomas Schumacher, Disney Theatrical Prods.

After its L.A. engagement, the show travels to Chicago, where it will open in April 2003 at the Cadillac Palace. It will be presented as part of the Broadway in Chicago Series, with tickets for the first five months going on sale to the general public in the fall.
