LONDON -- TV advertising sales fell 13% in the U.K. in the final quarter of 2001. Overall, the year was off 11% on 2000, down $601 million to sales of $4.95 billion.
The downturn in particular impacted ITV, Britain's biggest commercial broadcaster.
Carlton Communications and Granada, the two big ITV companies, were exposed through their continued funding of ITV Digital, the troubled pay TV platform they co-own.
