Abandon Entertainment and online game producer Mythic Entertainment have established a joint venture to acquire and produce television shows exploitable across all entertainment platforms.
Pact strengthens the association between Abandon and Mythic, which co-published "Dark Age of Camelot," an online multiplayer vidgame. Abandon and Mythic partnered with Dimension Films to jointly develop, produce and co-finance the TV series based on the online game.
Abandon Pictures exec produced the black comedy "Scotland, PA," starring Maura Tierney, James LeGros and Christopher Walken. Lot 47 Films released the pic this month in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Boston.
Through its partnership with Miramax TV, it also helped finance the Kevin Williamson-produced "Glory Days," airing on the WB. It is the international sales agent for both "Glory Days" and the HBO doc series "Project Greenlight."
Mythic's "Dark Age of Camelot" recently became one of the highest-selling online multiplayer games to date, surpassing Microsoft's "Asheron's Call" and Sony's "Everquest."
Mythic has thus far developed 12 online games, including "Spellbinder: The Nexus Conflict," "Aliens Online," "Starship Troopers: Battlespace," "Silent Death Online," "Rolemaster: Magestorm," "Darkness Falls" and "Dragon's Gate."
Gotham-based Abandon Entertainment consists of Abandon Pictures, Abandon Television, Abandon Internet Group, Abandon Ventures and Collision Entertainment.
