LET'S HOPE IT DOESN'T RAIN: There'll be a 438-foot-long red carpet Sunday for those arriving at the Golden Globes leading up to the BevHilton. That's 178 more feet than last year for fancy feet -- and photogs ... Trying for new angles on awards celeb coverage, Life mag offered cameras to stars to take pix of their own views of goings-on -- before-during-after. Steve Martin refused to be a cameraman, told 'em, "Not in a million years." But Sandra Bullock, Christine Baranski, Kim Cattrall, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Susan Sarandon took the challenge (and the cameras) ... It's been three years since a major feature's filmed on the Disney lot ("Hocus Pocus," the last), but Caravan's "Gone Fishin' " is on the Burbank boards today, having returned from Florida, where the comedy suffered the tragic death of a stuntwoman. Danny Glover told me it was a terrible blow, but everyone has pulled together. It's a unique family comedy in which Joe Pesci doesn't utter one "F word," he told me. Glover next goes heavily dramatic as a killer in "Go West" at Par with Dennis Quaid. No more "Lethal Weapons" for him --"WB wants 'em," he said, "but three's enough. It's time to move on." He's also on HBO's "America's Dream" trilogy, appearing in and exec producing the "Long Black Song" seg ... On hand at the TV Acad for the screening of the Gil Cates-Dennis Doty/ABC four-hour "Innocent Victims" was Billy Richards , the attorney who is portrayed by look-alike Rick Schroder. He got a standing ovation. The mini bows Monday. Cates and Doty are now developing "The Andersonville Trial" from a script by Lionel Chetwynd ... Mackenzie Astin (21), son of Patty Duke and John Astin, plays Shirley MacLaine's grandson in "Evening Star"... Alan and Gina Thicke hosted a screening for his son Brennan's (21) first film at their Toluca Lake home. Titled "One to Many"-- that's the title -- it won the Marymount College Fine Arts Award.
"YOU'LL NEVER MAKE LOVE IN THIS TOWN AGAIN" (Dove) hits the stalls this week. Telling of their years working in Hollywood, the authors choose the anonymity of "Robin," "Liza," "Linda" and "Tiffany," but they don't hesitate to give the full identity of their claimed celeb "customers." The publisher's lawyers claim to have given the authors polygraph tests, etc. ... Meshulam Riklis bought Carol Connors a Valentino, Bill Blass, Thierry Mugler and Karl Lagerfeld to choose from when she warbles her tune, "Violence Has No Color" at the Friends of Sheba Humanitarian Awards Jan. 27 at the BevHilton, when Mrs. Leah Rabin receives the Rabin award establishing the Yitzhak Rabin Intl. Wall of Peace at the Center. Larry King, who presides, will be accompanied by Deanna Lund. They dined Wednesday at the Beverly Wilshire ... Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman at Madame Wu's for egg roll and minced chicken ... Angie Dickinson with Dan Tana, Audrey and Robert Loggia, Tita Cahn with Mace Neufeld at Dan's (Tana's). Also there, Rita Coolidge with Dr. Roger Lewis.
