'Anatomie 2' in production

Pic sequel to Deutsche Columbia's biggest hit

By ED MEZA

BERLIN -- Lensing began in Berlin this week on "Anatomie 2," the follow-up to Deutsche Columbia Pictures' surprise 2000 hit with Franka Potente.

Stefan Rudowitzky ("All the Queen's Men"), who penned and directed the original, is again helming from his own script. Pic stars Barnaby Metschurat ("Chill Out") and Heike Makatsch ("Resident Evil"), with Potente to make a cameo appearance.

In the sequel, a young intern (Metschurat) discovers grisly goings-on at a hospital in Berlin and crosses paths with the sinister "Anti-Hippocratic Society" from the first pic.

The original "Anatomie" grossed $10 million to become Deutsche Columbia's biggest hit to date.

Andrea Wilson of Deutsche Columbia, Jakob Claussen and Thomas Woebke are again producing. Pic, scheduled for release next winter, has so far received nearly $3.3 million from state and federal film subsidies. The film is being shot on location in Berlin and Munich.

Deutsche Columbia, whose Til Schweiger-starrer "Was tun, wenn's brennt" is currently in theaters, also is producing Maria von Heland's upcoming "Grosse Maedchen weinen nicht" ("Big Girls Don't Cry"), and Florian Gaertner's teen comedy, "Sex Up."
