Alan G. Barbour

Film historian, editor of various publications

Alan G. Barbour, longtime film historian, died Feb. 12 of natural causes at his home in Kew Gardens, N.Y. He was 68.

During his career, he was editor and publisher of Screen Facts Magazine, Hollywood Scrapbook and various other publications. A sampling of his published books included "Saturday Afternoon at the Movies," "Humphrey Bogart" and "The Thrill of it All."

He spent many years working for BMG Video Club in New York where he served as the manager of Artists and Repertoire.

Born and reared in Oakland, he attended Rutgers U.

He is survived by his wife, Jean.
