Santoro
NEW YORK -- While he may be a household name only in Brazil, Rodrigo Santoro, who stars in the Walter Salles-directed "Behind the Sun," was much coveted by the major agencies. WMA has succeeded in signing him.
Santoro took a series of meetings arranged by his manager, Robert Goodman, and WMA will guide a full-on assault on Hollywood.
Aside from the critically acclaimed "Behind the Sun," which Miramax is distributing, Santoro starred in "Bicho de Sete Cabecas" ("Brainstorm"), directed by Lais Bodansky, and will next star in Hector Babenco's "Carandiru," which is about to begin shooting.
Santoro speaks fluent English, and WMA brass, who signed "Black Hawk Down" and "The Hulk" star Eric Bana when he was a little known Australian actor, thinks Santoro may have comparable crossover potential.
