The Directors Guild of America has tapped two HBO entries, "Conspiracy" and "61*," as nominees for outstanding direction of a TV movie along with ABC's "Life With Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows," NBC's "Uprising" and TNT's "James Dean."
The winner will be announced at the DGA's 54th annual awards dinner March 9 at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
Nominees include a trio of rookies -- Robert Allen Ackerman for "Life With Judy Garland," Jon Avnet for "Uprising" and Billy Crystal for "61*."
Mark Rydell garnered his second DGA nomination for "James Dean" to go along with his 1981 nod for "On Golden Pond" in the feature category. Frank Pierson received his third nomination for "Conspiracy," following 1992's "Citizen Cohn" and 1995's "Truman."
The DGA has invited the nominees to attend a March 2 symposium on their work at DGA headquarters.
