Conflict over the closure of Russia's last politically independent TV channel, TV-6, flared in Moscow on Tuesday, with staffers vowing to put out news programs on cable and the Internet.
TV-6 transmission stopped at midnight Monday; by 7 a.m. Tuesday it had been replaced by programs rebroadcast from the sports channel of subscription satcaster NTV-Plus.
TV-6 had been critical of President Vladimir Putin, and its closure is seen by some as politically motivated.
