Paul Bartlett

Paul Bartlett, a broadcast industry pioneer, died Sunday Jan. 13, six weeks after injuring his head falling from a ladder at his home in Auberry, Calif., He was 86.

In 1947, Bartlett built KRFM in Fresno and set up KERO in Bakersfield. He sold those stations in the 1950s, but returned to broadcasting as a consultant in the 1960s for Time-Life stations.

He was born in Abilene, Kan., and moved to Fresno in 1924, attended California State University, Fresno, and graduated from Harvard in 1940.

He is survived by wife Mary Elizabeth, a son, a daughter, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two sisters.
