Turner taps Wakschlag

Exec to fill newly created position of chief research officer

Jack Wakschlag has been tapped to fill the newly created position of chief research officer for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.

Wakschlag, who was most recently exec VP and head of research for The WB, will direct research and audience development functions for the domestic and international networks of the CNN News Group; TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network, Turner Classic Movies, Turner South, Boomerang and their international extensions; and Turner Sports. He'll also continue to oversee research for The WB.

Based in Atlanta, Wakschlag will work closely with the TBS, Inc. business heads as a strategist and advisor on key research issues throughout the company. He'll report to Vicky Miller, exec VP and chief financial officer of TBS, Inc.

Wakschlag will be responsible for many of the same duties as Bob Sieber, the former head of research for the Turner cable nets, who retired in December.

Prior to joining The WB in 1995, Wakschlag worked at CBS, where he served as director of research for CBS New Media and Television Stations. He was previously an associate professor of telecommunications at Indiana University.
