Jeffrey Alan Chandler
Stage thesp later appeared in film and TV roles
Durham, N.C., native graduated from Carnegie Mellon U. before moving to New York, where he began his career Off Broadway in "Your Own Thing" and "People vs. Ranchman." He later joined the Broadway production "Two Shakspearean Actors," "Elizabeth I," and the "The Dresser."
He continued to work on Broadway until the 1980s when he moved to Los Angeles. He performed at the Mark Taper Forum in "Arcadia," the South Coast Repertory and the Old Globe Theater. He also worked with the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and with the Tyrone Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, Minn.
Chandler made his first television guest appearance in 1984 on "Hill Street Blues" and later on "The Facts of Life," "Who's the Boss," "Ellen" and "Star Track." His last television appearance was on "ER" in 2001.
In 1987 he made his film debut in "La Bamba" and "In the Mood."
He continued to work in film through the remainder of his life, appearing in the "Iron Will" in 1994 and "Agua Dulce" in 2001.
Chandler is survived by longtime friend and life partner June Gable.
