HOLLYWOOD -- Blake Thomas will oversee day-to-day operations of MGM's growing pay-per-view and video-on-demand operations as part of his promotion to exec VP, worldwide marketing.
Thomas, who reports to MGM Home Entertainment Group president and chief operating officer David Bishop, will continue to oversee homevideo marketing.
"In expanding Blake's responsibilities, MGM is able to strategically capitalize on the marketing muscle of its home entertainment group as it crafts aggressive and innovative campaigns for the emerging VOD market," Bishop said.
MGM also hired Alex Carloss to fill Thomas' former position as senior VP, domestic marketing. Carloss, who has been a consultant on Internet applications at the Walt Disney Co.'s interactive division, will report to Thomas and supervise all aspects of marketing MGM videos. Before Disney, Carloss held exec positions at RealNetworks and Electronic Arts.
