Boonekamp takes over Jan. 1 from Michiel Berkel, who is leaving to form his own consulting company in South Africa.
Boonekamp was this year's deputy director of the fest, the premier showcase and meeting ground of the Dutch film industry. Before that she produced the event, which takes place each fall.
Boonekamp told Daily Variety that she wants "to provide the support that would entice Dutch filmmakers to use the festival as the launch pad for their new works."
Boonekamp has a background in arts management and has worked for the past decade with the Dutch Film Festival as well as Cinemart, the co-production and co-financing platform for the Intl. Film Festival Rotterdam.
