Eric Rohmer's "The Lady and the Duke" and Andre Techine's "Far" are also out of the running, Cannes Intl. Film Fest Prexy and jury topper Gilles Jacob announced.
The six pics left in the running for the kudos, which will be awarded Dec. 10, are Patrice Chereau's "Intimacy," Manoel de Oliveira's "I'm Going Home," Claude Lanzmann's "Sobibor, October 14, 1943, 4 p.m.," Benoit Jacquot's "Tosca," Claire Denis' "Trouble Every Day" and Jacques Rivette's "Va savoir."
Yves Caumon's "Amour d'enfance," Alain Guiraudie's "That Old Dream That Moves," Damien Odoul's "Deep Breath" and Eugene Green's "Every Night" are competing for best first film.
The Prix Louis Delluc, awarded by a committee of critics, last year went to Claude Chabrol's "Merci pour le chocolat," while Laurent Cantet's "Human Resources" took the first film nod.
