'Bedroom' snuggles up to feature award

Field receives sixth annual Satyajit Ray Award

NEW YORK -- Miramax Films' "In the Bedroom," directed and written by Todd Field, has won the sixth annual Satyajit Ray Award.

Prize is presented annually by the Satyajit Ray Foundation to a feature film that captures the compassion, humanism and vision of the internationally renowned film director it's named after.

Foundation's jury selected "In the Bedroom" from first features at the London Film Festival. The award presentation will be held early next year at the National Film Theater and includes a visit for Field to India.

Field is known for his work as an actor in Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut" and Victor Nunez's "Ruby in Paradise."

Set on the coast of Maine, "In the Bedroom" stars Tom Wilkinson, Sissy Spacek and Marisa Tomei. It tells the story of a couple whose only child is involved in a love affair that ends tragically.
