Org reps tackle industry ageism

Cohn, Vasconcellos to host confab

HOLLYWOOD -- Reps of several showbiz orgs have been tapped to appear at a confab hosted by Assemblywoman Rebecca Cohn and State Sen. John Vasconcellos on the issue of ageism.

The hearing will be held at the Los Angeles Film School Theater from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Former Screen Actors Guild prexy Ed Asner, Gloria Allred, SAG Treasurer-elect Kent McCord and SAG Senior Committee Co-chair Peter Mark Richman along with reps of the Writers Guild of America, the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists and Women in Film.

The event is a joint informational hearing of the Assembly Committee and Senate Subcommittee on Aging. The discussion will center on perceptions of aging and ways to break down negative stereotypes.
