Guenette to receive International Documentary Association Pioneer Award

Veteran exec Robert Guenette has been tapped to receive the International Documentary Association Pioneer Award.

The kudo will be presented Dec. 7 during the 17th Annual IDA ceremonies at the Directors Guild of America Theatre in Hollywood.

"The Pioneer Award is only presented periodically to individuals who have not only made extraordinary contributions to advancing the non-fiction form but have also generously donated their time, vision and leadership to the community," said IDA prexy Michael Donaldson. "Bob Guenette has earned our admiration for his many achievements as a documentarian and a humanitarian."

Guenette has won three Emmys and a DGA Award during a 50-year career. He was a founding member, served as president and taught the first IDA documentary class under the auspices of UCLA's extension program.

Guenette's credits include hundreds of hours of documentaries as an editor, writer, director, producer and executive of production companies. His films have aired on the ABC, CBS and NBC networks, PBS, HBO, Showtime and in syndication.
