Wakneen walks to DGA post

Former SAG contracts exec named assistant Eastern exec director

The Directors Guild of America has tapped former SAG contracts exec Fern Wakneen as assistant Eastern exec director.

Wakneen comes to the DGA after 11 years as assistant exec administrator for theatrical and TV Contracts for the Screen Actors Guild. She specialized in contract interpretation and enforcement at SAG.

"Fern Wakneen is an outstanding addition to the Guild's team in our Eastern regional headquarters," said DGA national exec director Jay Roth. "Her industry experience provides her with the experience and skills required to play a key role in negotiating and enforcing DGA film agreements in our New York office."

Wakneen is the DGA's second recent hire as assistant Eastern exec director, joining Russell Hollander.
