Jerry Beck

Latenight broadcaster Jerry Beck, a former stuntman and magician, died Oct. 21of a heart attack at his weekend home in Millersport. Ohio. He was 58.

Beck was host in the 1960s and 1970s of "All Night Theatre" on Columbus television station WLW-C, which later became WCMH-TV, beginning in 1968. He attracted a following for the weekend program by clowning with a rubber chicken and cracking jokes about the movies being shown.

Beck dropped out of high school to go on the road as a magician before becoming a stuntman in Hollywood in the early 1960s, working in the war movie "PT 109" and in several Elvis Presley musicals.

He was later president of Vanguard Prods., a television and radio production house for commercials and training videos. He also occasionally hosted radio shows.

He is survived by his son and his wife.
