Luis Antonio Garcia Navarro
Garcia Navarro studied music in his native city before moving to academies in Madrid and Austria. He conducted opera in Stuttgart and the orchestra in Barcelona and was a guest conductor in New York, London and Vienna.
Since 1997, he was the artistic and musical director of Madrid's Teatro Real, which reopened for operas that year after being closed since 1925, when it was in danger of collapse.
Navarro's interpretations of Verdi's "Don Carlo'' and Richard Wagner's ``Parsifal'' were acclaimed.
