Showeast to honor AMC's buyer

Fay to receive Al Shapiro Distinguished Service Award

HOLLYWOOD -- Richie Fay, AMC Entertainment's head film buyer, will get the Al Shapiro Distinguished Service Award this year at ShowEast.

The honor will be bestowed at a Nov. 2 breakfast event during the Orlando, Fla.-based trade show.

Fay has "served the motion picture industry for 30 years, with great passion and dedication," organizers said Monday. "He has excelled as a businessman, holding several key film and distribution positions, and as an individual who gives to his local community."

Fay joined AMC in 1995 as prexy of film marketing and buying. He previously did long stints at Loews Theaters and United Artists Theaters and also worked at MGM/UA, Warner Bros. and Sony.
