Mouse bats 'Stunt' pitch

'Corky' thesp Sheridan to star, Simonds to produce

HOLLYWOOD -- Disney has plunked down low six figures for the comedy pitch "Stuntman," from writing team Sal Stabile and Andrew Wasser.

Dave Sheridan, who appeared in Disney's "Bubble Boy" as well as the upcoming "Corky Romano," is attached to topline.

Buena Vista Motion Picture Group exec VP Mark Vahradian and creative exec Michael Haynes are overseeing the project for the studio. Disney-based Bob Simonds will produce.

"Stuntman" centers on a lovable loser who takes a job as a death-defying stuntman in an effort to win back the girl of his dreams.

Repped by CAA and Santos-Fischer Management, Stabile and Wasser recently penned for Franchise Pictures action comedy "Spam on Rye," which is slated to start production later this month with Penelope Spheeris directing David Arquette.

The writing duo also worked on "Posers" for Miramax, with Spheeris attached to helm, and sold "The Bomb" to Warner Bros.

Sheridan, who plays the title role of an insurance investigator in Disney's upcoming "Frank McKlusky, C.I.," is repped by CAA and 3 Arts Entertainment.

He also is attached to star in "Kung Fool," in development at the Mouse House.
