Two will succeed Greenblatt at WB units

Meril, Marcus named sr. VPs

HOLLYWOOD -- Rick Meril and Bill Marcus have been named senior VPs of sales for Warner Bros. domestic TV distribution and telepictures distribution, respectively.

The promotions are part of a reorg of Warner Bros.' syndie sales biz after the retirement of Warner Bros. exec Dan Greenblatt. Greenblatt retired last month from the post of exec VP of sales for both divisions.

Meril and Marcus previously reported to Greenblatt as senior VPs-general sales managers of their respective divisions. In their new roles, they will report directly to Dick Robertson, prexy of Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.

Taking the reins

Meril and Marcus will be responsible for the distribution sales activities for firstrun and off-network properties for their divisions, as well as overseeing the sales and administration staffs and working with the company's research and marketing groups.

"As our business continues to change and evolve, our challenges become even greater -- so to say that these guys have their work cut out for them would be an understatement," Robertson said in a statement announcing the appointments.

Meril joined Warners domestic TV distribution in 1999 after spending 16 years at Cox Broadcasting, most recently as exec VP-general sales manager of TV syndication for Cox's Rysher Television.

Marcus returned to traditional television sales last year as senior VP-general sales manager for telepictures distribution after a brief stint as head of distribution at Internet content incubator Fusient.
