Encore pacts for pix

Encore Intl. has inked exclusive licensing agreements with suppliers Morgan Creek, Southern Star, Beyond, Canal Plus and Ellipse to acquire 300 hours of drama series and movies.

The product will become part of Encore's daily programming block on China Central Television.

Under the five-year renewal agreement with CCTV that was signed earlier this year, Encore also gains more ad time on the programming block and, for the first time, will be allowed to offer daily sponsorships to other advertisers.

Encore Intl. and CCTV began their alliance in 1995. Ratings for the "Everyday Jiayi" block of programming have more than doubled since its launch.
