Dixit weds new skein

Sony Entertainment Television has signed top Hindi film actress Madhuri Dixit to host "Shubh Vivah" (Sacred Wedding), the first matchmaker show on local television.

Prospective brides and grooms will be brought together, with Dixit providing all the information on the candidates and helping the couples set wedding bells ringing. Show will begin airing this month.

Dixit is India's latest bigscreen celeb to host a TV show, a trend that began when Amitabh Bachchan joined "Kaun Banega Crorepati," the Indian version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," on Star Plus.
