Danish regional film fund bows

FilmFyn to back up to four local film, TV productions annually

COPENHAGEN -- Denmark's first regional film fund, FilmFyn, was launched Friday. The $1 million fund, which will also receive European Union coin, will back up to four local film or television productions annually. FilmFyn has appointed managing director of Nordisk Film and former indie producer Erik Crone as head of the new operation. The new institution has received a warm welcome from the industry, including Zentropa Entertainments managing director Peter Aalbaek Jensen.

"It is about time we get our own regional funds, after having sent so much money to the Swedish foundations," said Aalbaek Jensen, who has his first project ready for FilmFyn, Danish director Per Fly's "The Heritage," to be produced by Ib Tardini.

The $2 million production, to lense later this year, is Fly's second installment of his trilogy on Denmark's under-, middle- and upper classes.
