N.Y. resumes film permits
Gotham office reopens, filming resumes
The office had been closed last week and through Monday, taking only reservations for the permit list but not issuing permits.
"The mayor wants all business back and running, and we think we can do it," said a fatigued Pat Scott, head of the office.
Scott noted that production has been continuing in the other boroughs since the downing of the twin towers. But she said the biggest problem with shooting in the Big Apple was the unavailability of police officers, many of whom have been on duty at "Ground Zero." She also noted that several firefighters who had been consultants to television shows such as "100 Centre Street" had died.
"We will be prepared to work completely as normal by the end of the month," Scott said. "By the time productions such as 'Men in Black 2,' 'Spider-man' and 'Stuart Little 2' come back to the city, we'll be ready for them."
