Warner Bros. Television has paired scribes Rob Greenberg ("Frasier") and Les Firestein ("The Drew Carey Show") with Anne Heche to develop a half-hour laffer for the actress.

Heche recently sealed a one-year deal with Warner Bros. to star in a series for a potential fall 2002 berth. The project will follow the urban exploits of a young woman who's forced to grow up; it may include some fantasy elements as well.

Heche, Greenberg and Firestein plan to make the network rounds next week to pitch the concept. One network they won't visit is CBS, which has already passed on the project out of deference to Heche's ex, Ellen DeGeneres, who has her own sitcom on the Eye's fall sked. On Saturday, Heche was married to a cameraman, 27-year-old Coleman Laffoon, whom she reportedly met while making a documentary about DeGeneres.

Emmy Award-winner Greenberg, who's repped by BKWU, is in the middle of a three-year overall deal at Warner Bros. Firestein, who's repped by UTA, is also set up at the studio.
