The court has issued an injunction stipulating that RTL5 owner Holland Media Group must pay 50,000 guilders ($21,000) for each additional episode of "Sunday United" that it airs.
The court agreed with Endemol that changes in the name, decor and logos could not hide the fact that the show was a knockoff of "Sport on the Table," which Endemol previously produced for HMG. In both "Sunday United" and "Sport on the Table," Ruud ter Weijden is the host and Hugo Camps and Johan Derksen are commentators.
HMG is expected to appeal the ruling.
In a case that attracted more attention, U.K. company Castaway is appealing a Dutch court ruling dismissing Castaway's charges that Endemol format "Big Brother" is a copy of "Survivor," which was originally licensed as an option to Endemol.
