Ad agencies must pay

The Indian broadcast industry has threatened to ban certain advertising companies unless they pay debts of $30 million by Aug. 15 for commercials that have run on TV.

The decision to slap an embargo on the defaulting agencies was made by a joint working committee of the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF), which has 29 members including top players Star, Sony, Zee, Eenadu and Doordarshan, and the Advertising Agencies Assn. of India (AAAI).
