Halcyon set to fly by edge of 'Seat' with spec comedy
Co-chief Coen juggles prod's first three works
Romantic comedy, set in Los Angeles, concerns a regular guy who makes extra money filling empty seats at award shows. When he fills a seat at the Grammys next to a pop star, he becomes embroiled in helping her escape the paparazzi and her scheming manager.
Ehrlich and Sheffield are currently penning a rewrite of the script, which Halcyon co-chief Chris Coen will produce.
At Halcyon, Coen is also gearing up the shingle's first three projects --"Madeleine's Ghost," a romantic period drama penned by Robert Girardi and being adapted by Christopher Monger ("The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill but Came Down a Mountain"), who is also attached to direct; "Breakback," by Ted Cass; and "The Sett," adapted by Danny Taylor from Ranulph Fiennes' novel about a man who struggles to regain his identity after recovering from a brutal attack that destroyed his memory.
Coen is repped by Mark Halloran and Mike Minden of Erickson, Halloran and Small. Ehrlich is repped by Chris Prince Original Artists/Rothman Agency and managed by Julie Wixson at Gold Miller. Sheffield is managed by Stephen E. Marks at Marathon Entertainment.
