NCTA reups topper Sachs

Prexy-CEO to remain until 2004

WASHINGTON -- The National Cable & Telecommunications Assn. on Monday announced it is reupping Robert Sachs as prexy-CEO, with his new term set to expire at the end of 2004.

Announcement was made by NCTA board chairman Michael Willner, who is prexy of Insight Communications.

"Robert has provided NCTA with steady leadership during a period of unprecedented change in the cable industry. The board's early decision to extend Robert's contract reflects our strong satisfaction with the performance of Robert and the NCTA staff," Willner said,

Sachs' first contract wasn't scheduled to expire until July 31, 2002. He joined NCTA in August 1999.

"NCTA is a great organization, representing great companies. It's a real privilege to work with so many talented people in this industry and play a role in cable's transformation," Sachs said.

A longtime cabler, Sachs has held top positions at several companies, including Continental Cablevision and its successor, MediaOne.
